Aotake-An

Aotake-An is adjacent to Juichi-An and , together, the two houses can host up to 10 people. 

Ao-take-An, literally the hut of bamboo, is named after the green tea made from bamboo by Kuya Shonin who created the nearby important and famous temple Rokuharamitsuji. The house is located in a neighborhood where secular and religious are interweaving into a fascinating puzzle. Rich in culture and history, this neighborhood have ties with many famous Japanese figures like the dancing saint Kuya and the Taira and Minamoto  (the strongest Samurai families of the 12th century) which battled here in the most known episodes of Japanese history, still represented in many Noh and Kabuki plays as well as Japanese TV dramas to the present day.The neighborhood around the house is very active and welcoming. It offers a great deal of insight into the every day life of the people in an area less known to visitors. This ensures a very local experience “out of the beaten tracks” while still being in the middle of town. It is a great base for experiencing local daily life which yet living the tradition and heritage of the area through many temples Shrines and local spots.
