Ichiyo-An

The name Ichiyo-An, literally translated with 'the hut of one piece of leaf', refers to the Buddhist meaning that, from one leaf, you can feel the nature of the world. Our hope is that, from Ichiyo-An, you will be able to feel the beauty of Kyoto.

The structure of the house allowed us to create 3 completely separate Bedrooms for complete privacy in case you come with friends.
The house is located in a neighborhood where secular and religious are interweaving into a fascinating puzzle. It's right behind Kenninji Temple, 5 minutes walk to Hanami Koji (heart of Gion), 2 minutes walk to Konpira Shrine (one of the most unique shrines in Kyoto) and adjacent to a unique museum of old Japanese Armors.
The neighborhood around the house offers a great deal of insight into the everyday life of the people in an area less known to visitors which ensures a very local experience “out of the beaten tracks” while still being in the middle of town.
There is railway station, 24hr convenience stores and a big local supermarket all within 10 minutes walk plus a variety of restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area.
